Passato Prossimo is one of the most commonly used tenses in Italian. It is used to describe actions completed in the past but still connected to the present. Verbs are formed with avere or essere in the Indicativo Presente and the main verb’s participio passato. For example: ho mangiato (‘I have eaten’), sono andato (‘I have gone’). It is important to remember that with essere, the form must agree with the subject’s gender and number.
